Why I joined Convention of States in Virginia
I've watched from a distance and slowly felt my power as a citizen be taken from me
| My family joined the Virginia community as a transplant from Las Vegas when I joined the United States Navy in 1991 while serving aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69). I've been a political spectator since the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan in 1981. Why would an American would want to kill the President of the United States? Isn’t the President supposed to be a national hero? The champion of the people? Since then, I've watched from a distance and slowly felt my power as a citizen be taken from me.  My 8th grade innocence is washed away. I've watched the sky burn over Kuwait. I've watched politicians become millionaires while serving in public office and seen clear evidence time and time again of abuse of power with zero repercussions at all levels of the government.Now, we are facing the rise of socialism in America? “It's not real socialism. It's democratic socialism,” they say. That sounds like training wheels to me. High level representatives incite violence from their constituents against their opposing party ideology. And it’s working. Citizens have begun turning on one another through vicious attacks both verbal and physical. Tragically we’re actually having national debates about what bathroom men should be using and why they should be included in women’s sports. Am I dreaming? The COS platform is the only organization I have found that not only represents my beliefs but actually has a chance at instituting the required change to take our nation back, so We the People can stand “one nation, under God, indivisible” once again. I took a stand for my family and friends. I encourage you all to do the same. At the very least, sign the petition. Then, decide if you'd like to do more and volunteer.
