Why have we become so polarized?
Here are six words that could restore civil discourse in America.
| Are we so focused on our “side” being right or winning at any cost that we have forgotten to hold fair play as the paramount objective? Has the media twisted our narrative to where we have forgotten how to be decent people first? Has our educational system been corrupted to the point that we can no longer teach civic responsibility and common courtesy? Dr. Wilmer Dehuff taught a lesson, so his students would become decent human beings and responsible citizens. This lesson has been passed down for generations. It is past time to re-learn it and live it. Lets set the example for our fellow citizens. The lesson is a simple one: live your life by six words. Goodness and Mercy Remember the Golden Rule: treat people as you want to be treated. Make honor and integrity the foundations of your personal code of conduct. Remember that everyone makes mistakes and deserves a second chance. Recall the most-recited prayer: “…forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us…“ Perseverance and Achievement Every one desires to achieve the goals they set, but far too many quit when they meet adversity. The key to achieving anything is this: just don't quit. Adjust, adapt, endure, and overcome. If you never quit, you will never fail. Freedom and Responsibility There is not a person on this planet that doesn't desire freedom. The freedom we enjoy has been bought and paid for by generations of our fellow country men and women willing to do their duty. Every freedom we enjoy has a corresponding responsibility. If we choose to be responsible, we will gain all the freedom we desire. Remember the adage: freedom isn't free. Our goal is to restore this country to the founding principles of personal liberty. All power emanates from the people and limited government. Let's restore honor, integrity and common decency as well. |
