What does a Passed State Do?

As a resident in two passed states, Texas and Florida, I am often asked the question - “You are passed, what is there for you to do?” Well, let me explain what goes on in a a passed state.

We work diligently with our legislators to preserve our resolution or as in the case of Texas, worked diligently over the past 6 years to assure that we have a Sunset Clause free resolution! Is that hard? Let's look at the time and effort they put in to make it happen! SIX years of calling, talking to, being present, and all the time knowing that you could fail and lose your status as a Passed State because of the Sunset Clause. That would be catastrophic! They spent hours at the capitol showing up en masse for hearings, committees, and having a presence in those hallowed halls!  I can take no claim for their success but want to make sure it is recognized as an extremely difficult job to have a state who firmly believes in Sunset Clauses remove them.  Luckily, in Florida, we don't have one!

The Legislative Liaison knows every legislator, every secretary, every clerk! This is critical to the outcome! Hours are spent in TelePatriot calls to legislators to gain their support, letters are written, texts are sent, there is no form of communication that goes untouched in the effort to preserve a Passed State status!

In addition to the above scenario, we have rescission efforts come up regularly - so we can not afford to rest on our laurels (or resolution) to see us thru! The legislators take the actions very seriously and so do we! We show up, speak up, and stand proud for the Article V resolutions that we love!

We work on favored F3 legislation, we make sure our 34 ready legislation is letter perfect - taking it to a full court press when needed to get changes we need! In short, we work the legislators every way we can - to assist them in getting legislation passed, to assist us in preserving legislation!

We send thank you notes and phone calls to let them know we notice what they are doing. It is not without effort that we remain as a Passed State. So my word to all you States who are still working so hard to get passed, remember, there is more work to be done when you cross that hurdle!

We help out the States who are trying to get passed with TelePatriot Missions, letters, anything we are asked to do, we step up to help them just as we do our Passed States! We are all in this together and we will not finish this job till we hold an Article V convention (probably several Article V conventions) and get this runaway government under control!
