We Paid to Study Parrot’s Intimacy

Department of Health and Human Services fritters away $689,222 of our tax money studying the intimacy of parrots.

The study aimed to observe social communication in parrots and to examine the social outcomes when they kiss or make sexual advances. Using parrots was a precursor to understanding human communication.

It seems that even in neuroscience research, it might be wiser to evaluate human behaviors in humans.

Is it appropriate and necessary to spend $689K to understand a parrot's feelings of love and intimacy?
