| Convention of States President Mark Meckler and America's Constitution Coach Rick Green discussed the Article V movement live on Newsmax last week, explaining the importance of calling a 50-state convention to propose amendments that curtail federal government overreach. “The Founding Fathers foresaw that we would get to this point where the federal government just did not listen to the people back home and they would not change on their own,” said Green. “No tyrant gives back the power. We have to take it back and the Founders gave us the tool to do that. It's time to use it.” Each state should have the freedom to make their own decisions with the federal government only handling specific areas outlined in the Constitution. This requires decentralizing power and returning decision-making to state and local governments. The majority of Americans prefer a smaller government, according to polls. A Rasmussen Reports survey finds that 52% of likely voters say they prefer a smaller government with fewer services and lower taxes, while 38% say they prefer a more active government with more services and higher taxes.
