Walk the Talk

Block Walking in Wisconsin Assembly District 84 results in more petition signatures.

Approaching strangers on their home territory induces fear, but Andrew Barkman, the National COS Block Walk Coordinator, believes personal communication conveys information about Convention of States best. It doesn’t rely on unreliable Big Tech.

In block walking, a fight or flight response is normal; unease prevails when approaching total strangers even in quiet, familiar surroundings. Tom Beeson, Volunteer Activist in WI Assembly 84, walked with Art Binhack, Block Walking Captain thinking, “These are complete strangers. They may yell, they may argue with me.”

Tom’s anxiety diminished, though, as he worked his way along a predetermined route, script in hand, along with Art. He encountered Renee “the smiling lady in the picture above,” and buoyed by Renee’s response, Tom launched into the COS script.

‘Hello, my name is Tom Beeson with Convention of States, a nonprofit dedicated to Self-Governance. We’re working to reign in the federal government by calling an Article V Convention regarding 3 concerns. Do you agree with 75% of Americans who believe in Term Limits?“ Renee thought a brief moment and said “yes”. “Do you think Congress should stay within a budget?” Renee’s “yes” was much faster.  ”Do you feel most political decisions should be made locally or by distant others?“  Another “Yes” this time emphatic.

Tom continued, “Will you join millions of Americans who have signed our petition calling for an Article V Convention of States proposing the amendments we outlined?”

Renee agreed and signed the petition. Along with Art, Tom knocked on 22 doors, spoke with nine people and obtained seven petition signatures – which is a very good ratio.

The Federal Government has become onerous controlling the lives of citizens in every state, oftentimes usurping the legitimate jurisdiction of individual states. As the Convention of States leadership asserts, an Article V Convention of States is the “solution as big as the problem.” COS invites you to join the Article V movement.

Contact your District Captain and take up block walking with your fellow volunteers. If you do not know who your District Captain is, feel free to call Art Binhack, 262-930-1677.
