Wake County Board of Commissioners hears COS

On July 7, I addressed the Wake County Commissioners meeting to rally support for HJR 379—the COS Resolution. It’s time to shift power from distant bureaucrats to local voices. Let’s restore self-governance and reignite the spirit of “We the People.”

===== Our Public Podium when Rallying for Local Self-Governance =====

Like other municipal commissions, councils and governing boards, every Wake County Board of Commissioners (Wake BOC){{https://content.conventionofstates.com/cosaction-prod/public/content/images/99310/99310_original.png?174x221}} meeting offers public comment. You get three minutes at the mic to speak directly to seven elected leaders, a live audience, and an audience at home. Sign up online or at the kiosk outside. It’s your shot to advocate for local policy with the force of democracy and free speech.

===== My July 7th Appeal =====

On July 7, I stood before the Wake BOC to champion HJR 379--the COS Resolution before the North Carolina General Assembly (NCGA, our state legislature) this session. My goal was to raise awareness and urge our Commissioners to support it. With over a million Wake County residents, every word carried the weight of the potential impact on our shared future.

===== What I Shared =====

Here is a video clip of my three-minute speech:
(Note: a recording of the entire meeting is available here, under Past Meetings)

After, the Clerk was given:

* My prepared remarks for the record
* The full text of HJR 379
* An article on how local decision-making benefits all North Carolinians regardless of party affiliation, and outperforms a distant bureaucracy in DC

===== Building Bridges =====

After the meeting, I met Commissioner Vickie Adamson of District 7—my first in-person introduction. Despite the delicate dance between the Wake BOC and the NCGA, she and I committed to further talks. Together, we’ll explore how local voices can re-shape our constitutional republic from the ground up, and can move the COS resolution forward. I also intend to discuss this with Rep. Maria Cervania, my district's NCGA member who previously served on the Wake BOC.

===== Join the COS Self-Governance Movement =====
