Volunteer Leader Legal Agreement (2021 Version)
Attachment: 2272/Volunteer_Legal_Agreement_040132021.pdf
![]() Volunteer Legal Agreement Updated 4/13/2021 Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Convention of States! Before you get started, our lawyers tell us we need to make sure you agree to some stuff. If you have questions about this form, please contact the COS Legal Team by emailing us at [email protected] . As a volunteer for Convention of States (COS for short) you will have access to COS resources, including private information about our supporters and strategy. As consideration for and a condition to gaining access to those resources you agree that: 1. You will keep strictly confidential all private information that COS gives you access to. Private information includes personal information in COS’s database, details about COS’s strategy that haven’t been released to the public, and other information that should reasonably be understood as private based on all the surrounding circumstances. 2. You will not sell any information or materials that COS gives you access to. 3. You will not use COS’s database, the personal information in it, or any other COS resources to contact people about matters unrelated to COS (this includes soliciting support for other causes or businesses), unless you first obtain the permission of your COS Regional Director, the COS Legislative Team, or the COS Legal Team. 4. You will not use any materials, information, or other resources provided by COS to promote or oppose any candidates for public office, political parties, or political committees without the express written permission of the COS Legal Team. If the COS Legal Team issues official guidelines for campaign activity in your area, those guidelines serve as express written permission to engage in activities consistent with the guidelines. 5. You are participating in COS solely as a volunteer. You acknowledge and represent that no promises of employment or compensation for services have influenced your participation in COS or your signature on this agreement. 6. COS has the right to unilaterally terminate your role as a volunteer at any time, for any reason. You likewise have the right to stop volunteering for COS at any time, for any reason. When your volunteer relationship with COS ends, you agree to return or destroy all materials and private information in your possession that you received as a result of volunteering for COS, unless you receive written permission from COS’s staff to do otherwise. 7. COS has the right to amend this agreement at any time, and by continuing to volunteer for COS you are agreeing to those changes. If we make any substantive changes to the terms of this agreement, we will let you know (probably by email) before they go into effect so that you can stop volunteering if you object. If you agree please sign below. Let’s put an end to federal overreach, together! Signature Block |
