Veteran's Day, November 11: Commemoration of history
We are so thankful to these team members for their dedicated service to our country.
World War I officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919.
However, fighting had ceased seven months earlier when an armistice between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918.
In 1919 President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day to honor and thank military veterans, living or dead.
At the request of U.S. Veteran organizations, Armistice Day was renamed Veterans Day by President Eisenhower in 1954.
The Louisiana Convention of States team gratefully recognizes our veteran members for their service:
Jeff Labbe, COS Volunteer

Jeff served from 1977 to 2006 as an Army Pilot. He flew the Cobra Gunship medical helicopter in the Gulf War and continues to serve in the Army Reserve. Jeff served in Japan, Belize, Italy, Poland, and Germany.
William Land, COS Veterans Coalition Director

William was a member of the Air Force's 67th Tactical Air Command. He served from 1978 to 1985.
Martin Nolan, COS Systems Information Analyst

Martin is a Vietnam Vet, serving from 1969 to 1972 as an Administrative Specialist in the Regular Army.
Michael LeBoeuf, COS Volunteer

Michael was a Pershing Missile Crewman in the Army. He served from 1978 to 1991 in Germany and at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma.
