US drops in overall freedom ranking

Last year the United States ranked 17th in terms of overall freedom. This year we're ranked even lower…


Increased invasion of privacy, a decline in economic freedom, and increased government regulations have resulted in the United States being ranked the 20th freest nation in the world, according to a new study by the Cato Institute, the Fraser Institute and the Swiss Liberales Institut. The U.S. now ranks as less free than nations like the United Kingdom (9), Germany (12), and Chile (18).

Last year the U.S. was ranked 17th. According to Ian Vasquez, co-author of the report, “Since the year 2000, the U.S. has been on a decline in terms of economic freedom,”

Americans everywhere are feeling the squeeze of an abusive federal government, and they’ve decided to do something about it. A Convention of States, called under Article V of the Constitution, can help the people regain some of their long-lost freedom by proposing constitutional amendments that shrink the power and jurisdiction of the federal government.

More volunteers join the movement every day, and the Convention of States Project has a volunteer-led organization in every state across the country.
