The People Section of the Citizen Builder Dashboard

Attachment: 2506/The_People_Section_of_the_C.B._Dashboard.docx

Convention of States Missouri

The People Section of the Citizen Builder Dashboard

Within the Tools/Followup and District Dashboard sections of the Citizen Builder(C.B.) Dashboard your choices for filtering are limited to what is shown on the screens.

- The People/User section allows for more choices. You will only see the people associated with your assignments. For District Captains, keep in mind that you will see everyone in the Senate District(s) to which you have access. If your House District is not nested within one Senate District then the number of supporters shown in this section will be much larger than the number shown on your Tools/District Dashboard (Tools/D.D.)

- To open a supporter’s profile from within this section touch their Avatar/picture.
- You will have access to all sections of the profile found in the Tools/D.D. section EXCEPT the templates.
- Updating the profile is permitted from this section.
- To filter by information available, look at the light gray area above where you see the Avatars and personal information.

- You will see the word ‘Filter’ in a box. This is actually ‘define your filter.’ Next to it are three weird-looking icons and to the right is another box with ‘Sort by…’ in it.
- Touch the word ‘Filter’ and a white area appears on the screen containing the ‘+ Add criteria’ link in it. When you touch that your choices will appear in a drop down. No description will be given in these instructions since National is always making changes. Check them out all you want: you cannot harm the information on this page.
- The three weird icons are: 1) list the profiles down the screen; 2) list the profiles where you see the individual profiles on the screen and you must choose to move to the next profile; and 3) the map vision of all the profiles available to you.
- Within the white box containing the ‘+ Add criteria’ link you will see another ‘Filter’ box on the far right side of your screen. That one is actually the ‘Apply my Filters Now’ box.
- NOTE: You cannot print the information from this section and copying the data to another system is discouraged. We should do everything we can to protect our supporters’ information.
- The People/Tags section will show all custom and system tags. If you do not see a blue ADD TAG button in the upper right-hand corner then you do not have permission to create a tag. Contact our State Director, a State Director Team Member or a State Information Analyst to add the tag. You will then be able to add the tag to profiles as needed. In Missouri we try to start all tags with MO, i.e. ‘MO HD 163 Followup Needed.’ Only House District 163 would use this tag.

- You can add a tag from either the People/User or Tools/D.D. sections. Open the Tag section of the edit screens and under the lightly-outlined box with the word ‘Custom Tags’ above it; type in your tag name. The more you type the quicker the system will filter down your unique tag. Hit return or enter and POOF: the blue button for UPDATE is unreachable. (Logic failure on the part of the developers.) No worries: touch another part of the screen to ‘step out’ of the entry box and the UPDATE button should be accessible again. Hit update, refresh your screen and the tag should now be showing below the long narrow column on screen left which houses the supporter’s general information.
- The tags can be removed by ‘stepping into’ the box and hitting the ‘x’ to the right of the tag. Note: the tags are touchy; if you add on in error and save it by mistake, just remove it. Please do not remove other tags unless you have been asked to do so.
- The tags can be useful for showing who attended a meeting, who needs to be contacted, etc. And you can create lists and/or emails specifically to those who have a certain tag.
- The People/Lists section has two different ways to make lists: static and dynamic and both types can be used with email blasts.

- Static lists are like taking a picture in time. You can add supporters to the list at a later date and you have the option to remove them individually from the list. For example, if you want to call all the supporters whom you have tagged ‘followup needed’ then as you call and/or email them you can hit the REMOVE button on the right side of the screen. You will then have a list of only those supporters who still need to be contacted. If you built the list based on a tag, removing the supporter from the static list does not remove the tag.
- Dynamic lists are like a video rather than a picture. Any new supporters fitting the criteria defined in the list will be added each time you open (or refresh your screen.) The REMOVE option does not exist on the list. Only changing the list’s defining items on the supporter’s profile will change the list, i.e. removing a tag, their volunteer-interest designation.
- The People/Filters and People/Duplicates sections may not be visible to all roles. If they are visible to you and you feel you have can use them, please contact someone in the State Director or State Information Analysts roles for training. If you choose not to be trained in these areas or have no access to these sections and you have duplicate profiles which need to be merged, please contact someone in the roles listed above.
