For all our petition signers who are not yet volunteers, we hope the University enlightens and energizes you to join the movement in an active role. We hope to see you soon. ____________________________________________________________ === Did You Know: === On September 25, 1789, 10 amendments to the Constitution became the Bill of Rights. Today, we cover the Second Amendment: Amendment 2 A well-regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed. The Second Amendment is important because it: * Allows private ownership of firearms * Provides state governments with more power * Provides citizens the right to keep firearms for protection * Prevents the nation from being ruled by police or military * Without the Second Amendment, there's nothing to stop the rest of our rights from being ripped away. by: Brenda Heidman _______________________________________________________________ === Last Month's Events: === The community came together to celebrate Constitution Day at Augusta University on September 17th. The organizer was David Kearns. He works at the university library as the Sr. Assistant for Reference and Government Information. Readers from the community itself included law enforcement, teachers, students and guests. It was my pleasure to attend this event. I hope it will become an annual celebration across the country to remind “We the People” of our freedom to seek and enjoy both our life and our liberty. by: Joey Gibson _______________________________________________________________ === This Month's Events: === * Saturday October 2nd is the 42nd annual Odum Day celebration in Odum, Ga. When her Regional Captain, Don Gardner (Region 1) found out all the techy things Vicky was good at, he immediately thought of the Systems Analyst role and discussed the position with her. Vickie applied for the role, and there has been no stopping her since. Vickie approaches COS with a “whatever I can do to help” attitude. Immediately after training, Vickie took on database cleanup, giving SIA Jon Lapp a much-needed break. At one point Jon went to work on the database and was shocked and relieved by how much Vickie had accomplished in such a short time. Vickie has been a wonderful addition to the team. She is willing to learn and take on additional tasks. Her help has been fundamental in helping the state teams keep up with the surge of new petition signers, our state and the country have seen, over the past few weeks. Her hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed. Thank you Vickie for all you do. Give a big shout-out to Vickie at vickie.rommel@cosaction.com _______________________________________________________________ === Words of Wisdom: === “The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings, the inherent vice of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.” - Winston Churchill contributed by: Rob Rodman _______________________________________________________________ Until We Meet Again: That's a wrap for this issue of the Peach State Patriot.
