The Constitutional Minute Episode III: Separation of Powers

At Convention of States Maryland, one of our primary functions is to educate ourselves and our fellow citizens about the founding principles embraced by the Framers and Founders of our great country.

The U.S. Constitution is not only a brilliant plan by which to run our nation, but it also was designed to be timeless, allowing for change as our country expanded its borders and grew in power.

Last month, we introduced the first of many short videos which we call “The Constitutional Minute.”  Different aspects of the Constitution will be featured monthly to reach a wide audience.

From those who are very familiar with the workings of government to those who vaguely remember their civics classes back in high school, all will find these short videos contain interesting and important facts about our Constitution.

If you caught the first Constitutional Minute video of the series last month, you may have noticed it’s labeled “Episode II.” The first video produced was about the President Pro Tempore of the Senate.

Shortly after, it seemed a good idea to write a script explaining the purpose of the Constitution, so the Episode II video was conceived. Keep an eye out for Episode I to be released at a future date.

This month’s video, “Separation of Powers” (Episode III), speaks to the heart and soul of the Framers’ design – a Constitution that meticulously preserves the checks and balances approach over the powers that govern the citizens it vows to protect.

We hope you enjoy this episode of “The Constitutional Minute” and will share it with your friends and family.
