Texas is One Step Closer! On to Calendars!
| ===== Texas has moved One Step Closer to joining with 10 other States in Calling for a Convention of States! ===== ==== THANK YOU FOR YOUR INCREDIBLE, RELENTLESS, PROFESSIONAL EFFORTS!! ==== The tireless efforts of the grassroots have produced a committee victory! Well done everyone! We are almost across the finish line; we just have one last committee vote - CALENDARS, to get to the Floor! Will you help us make Texas State #11? ==== TODAY'S VICTORY OUT OF COMMITTEE IS YOUR VICTORY! ==== The Texas House Select Committee on State & Federal Power & Responsibility passed House Joint Resolution 39 (HJR 39), and it's Senate companion SJR 2, out of committee just minutes ago! Committee members demonstrated both leadership and attentiveness to the wishes of YOU, and more than 120,000 Texas grassroots activists. https://youtu.be/FkG4QVo583c Representative Rick Miller, from Sugar Land, TX (HD 26) is once again championing the Convention of States resolution in the Texas House. Earlier this year, the Senate companion version, Senate Resolution SJR 2, passed the full Senate. Once HJR 39 reaches the floor of the Texas House, a simple rule allows SJR 2 to be swapped in and voted on by the entire Texas House, thus fulfilling the necessary steps of one version of legislation passing both chambers to be complete. The Committee also passed SJR 2 at the same time, with the same vote. The Governor's signature is not required on HJR 39/SJR 2, though Governor Abbott's signature on this legislation would be a foregone conclusion, as this is his premier legislative package this session. —- Please thank these members of the House Select Committee on State & Federal Power & Responsibility for demonstrating leadership by voting for HJR 39. | District | Name | Phone # | 9 | Chris Paddie | [email protected] | (512) 463-0556 | Cris Paddie FB | @chrispaddie | 52 | Larry Gonzales | [email protected] | (512) 463-0670 | Larry Gonzales FB | @larrygonzales52 | 53 | Andrew Murr | [email protected] | (512) 463-0536 | Andrew Murr FB | Not Found | 72 | Drew Darby | [email protected] | (512) 463-0331 | Drew Darby FB | @drewdarby4TX | 88 | Ken King | [email protected] | (512) 463-0736 | Ken King FB | @kingfortexas | —- There's still more work to do; Calendars Committee is Next. Thank you for ALL that you have contributed so far. The last remaining step to get to the Texas House floor is a journey through the Texas Calendars Committee. Below are the 15 members of the Calendars Committee. Please contact each of these members and remind them that HJR 39 has 80 coauthors and deserves to be considered on the floor immediately! | District | Name | Phone # | 8 | Byron Cook | [email protected] | (512) 463-0730 | Byron Cook FB | Not Found | 9 | Chris Paddie | [email protected] | (512) 463-0556 | Chris Paddie FB | @chrispaddie | 12 | Kyle Kacal | [email protected] | (512) 463-0412 | Kyle Kacal FB | @KyleKacal | 21 | Dade Phelan | [email protected] | (512) 463-0706 | Dade Phelan FB | @DadePhelan | 32 | Todd Hunter | [email protected] | (512) 463-0672 | Todd Hunter FB | @toddahunter | 48 | Donna Howard | [email protected] | (512) 463-0631 | Donna Howard FB | @DonnaHowardTX | 57 | Trent Ashby | [email protected] | (512) 463-0508 | Trent Ashby FB | @TrentAshbyTX | 74 | Poncho Nevárez | [email protected] | (512) 463-0566 | Poncho Nevarez FB | @poncho_nevarez | 88 | Ken King | [email protected] | (512) 463-0736 | Ken King FB | @kingfortexas | 99 | Charlie Geren | [email protected] | (512) 463-0610 | Charlie Geren FB | @charliegeren | 102 | Linda Koop | [email protected] | (512) 463-0454 | Linda Koop FB | @LindaKoopHD102 | 104 | Roberto Alonzo | [email protected] | (512) 463-0408 | Roberto Alonzo FB | Not Found | 109 | Helen Giddings | [email protected] | (512) 463-0953 | Helen Giddings FB | @helengiddings | 110 | Toni Rose | [email protected] | (512) 463-0664 | Toni Rose FB | @RepToniRoseTX | 134 | Sarah Davis | [email protected] | (512) 463-0389 | Sarah Davis FB | @SarahforHD134 | Related legislation was also passed by the Select Committee on State & Federal Power & Responsibility.
