Term Limits - Common Sense

Answer the call!

The United States Founding Fathers envisioned a government where elected officials would serve the nation selflessly, free from the constraints of political parties. Over the years, however, the political landscape has shifted dramatically, leading to entrenched corruption and self-serving practices that undermine the very principles our forefathers fought to establish.

Term limits restrict an elected official's terms in a particular office. The idea behind term limits is to prevent politicians from becoming too comfortable and entrenched in their positions, thereby reducing the risk of corruption and ensuring that fresh ideas and perspectives are continually introduced into the legislative process.

Benefits of Term Limits

•    Reduction in Corruption: Limiting the number of terms a person can serve reduces individuals' opportunities to build long-term networks of power and influence that can lead to corrupt practices such as bribery and kickbacks.

•    Fresh Perspectives: New members bring new ideas and approaches, which can revitalize the legislative process and ensure it remains responsive to the needs of the people.

•    Public Trust: Limiting the tenure of members of Congress can help rebuild public trust in government institutions, as it demonstrates a commitment to preventing the accumulation of power and privilege.

Our Founding Fathers envisioned a government that served the people and upheld the principles of liberty, justice, and equality. Implementing term limits is a crucial step toward achieving this vision. By preventing long-term entrenchment and encouraging diverse representation, we can create a more dynamic, responsive, and trustworthy government that genuinely serves the interests of its citizens.

It is incumbent upon “We the People” of North Carolina to demand Term Limits and reclaim the integrity of our political system.

Call To Action

North Carolina Convention of States Action has recently introduced HJR 379 calling for the convening of an Article V convention. Term Limits is one of the three subject matters that this convention would address.

All Convention of States supporters are urgently being asked to begin interacting with your state representatives and urging them to support the passage of HJR 379. North Carolina depends on you; our Constitutional Republic depends on you. Will you patriotically answer the call?
