Spotlight: Wisconsin Representative Donna Rozar

Representative Rozar developed a love of history and was an avid reader of the history of early America

Representative Donna Rozar was elected in November 2020 and represents the 69th Assembly District in Wisconsin. A second term legislator, Representative Rozar is chair of the Assembly Family Law Committee and vice-chair of the Assembly Health Committee.

Growing up in Orange County, Virginia on a farm adjacent to Montpelier, the home of President James Madison (the Father of our Constitution).  Representative Rozar developed a love of history and was an avid reader of the history of early America, Virginia, and biographies of those who were players in the making of that history. As a band member in high school, she participated in graveside ceremonies every Constitution Day on Montpelier grounds.

Rozar is a graduate of the Virginia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing (Lynchburg), the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, and Viterbo University (LaCrosse), where she received a Diploma in Nursing, a BSN, and an MSN, respectively.

Having worked in a variety of clinical settings, Rozar ended her nursing career in 2020 as a nurse educator (University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire College of Nursing) and a certified medical-surgical registered nurse (CMSRN), working as a cardiac medical-surgical RN at the Marshfield Medical Center.

Rozar was a leader in the Wisconsin State Assembly of the resolution calling for a Convention of the States.

Representative Rozar was asked: Why are you attending the Convention of States Foundation Simulation?

She answered: By participating in this simulation, in historic Williamsburg, Virginia, I look forward to learning more about how a Convention of the States would convene and function. I am also interested in hearing the perspectives of other legislators about the issues that will be brought before this simulation.

Being able to articulate the need for a Convention of the States and persuading others to support such an effort will be an added benefit of participating in this simulation.
