Sovereignty....shifting the pendulum

====== Sovereignty…..shifting the pendulum ======

What a thrill watching the Kentucky Derby this year as, Sovereignty, a direct descendent of the historically famous horse, Secretariat, won the race with the same physical power of his predecessor. This living legacy demonstrates that generational traits passed down produce a predictable outcome.

While the notion of sovereignty is at the very heart of our nation, it has faced challenges on both the state and federal levels. Early patriots embraced self governing as they broke ties from the English monarchy. This young nation placed a high value on self governance by the people. These principles have recently been threatened by fluid interpretations by government officials of statutes and laws at both the state and federal level. In essence, they have usurped their authority and denied the people their right to sovereignty.

This loss of the balance of power has been eroding for many years right before our eyes. Politicians on both sides have become more powerful than ever as the federal government has exploded in size. In addition, federal agencies have also seized more power over our lives through regulations of food, medicine, health and taxation. The average American may not even realize the extent to which the government is directly making decisions for them.

The creation of DOGE, Department of Government Efficiency, has uncovered massive waste, fraud and abuse of taxpayer money. For so long, there has been almost zero accountability for spending and working to have a balanced budget. The American people have tolerated a “blank check” federal government for far too long. The double standard of fiscal responsibility for some and not others demands termination.

So how can the pendulum swing back to regain balance and promote the value of sovereignty? Many feel apathetic and even helpless in this regard. The task seems insurmountable. However, the grassroots movement of some everyday Americans is working diligently to call a Convention of States. In fact, this very provision from Article V of the Constitution, has awakened hope and outlined a specific blueprint for the people to regain their right to self governance and self determination.

Currently, 19 state legislatures have voted to call the convention in which many issues surrounding state sovereignty would be addressed and the over reach of the federal government would be challenged. This could be the one chance in our lifetime that the people propose limits on the length of service in public office. Representatives need a reminder they are in power to serve the people not rule the people with their ideologies.

The need for unity has never been more important than now. If we, as concerned citizens, do not take an active role in swinging the pendulum of power, we stand to lose the precious sovereignty that our Founding Fathers fought so hard to obtain. Please consider joining the movement in your state to call a Convention of States and make this dream a reality.
