Southern New Jersey Gets Crafty for COS Meetings

Over a dozen petitions were signed, and a handful of enthusiastic citizens signed up to volunteer.

In mid-June, COS New Jersey District Captains Susan Beckett-Jones (D-4) and Michael Osowiecki (D-6) hosted meet-and-greets at local craft breweries to educate guests, spread the Convention of States message, and answer questions.

District Captain Michael Osowiecki presents the COS mission at
Double Nickel Brewing Co. in Pennsauken.

Following the presentations, volunteers and guests socialized in the relaxed settings, sharing their thoughts on COS. Many expressed their concerns about the inefficacy of both political parties to rein in spending, taxation, and regulation, which stifles the liberty of individuals to pursue their goals.

Between the two events, over a dozen petitions were signed, and a handful of enthusiastic citizens signed up to volunteer. Special thanks to the leadership of Susan and Michael as well as Grassroots Coordinator Bill Boniface, who says districts 3 through 8 are well-poised to become “the nucleus for a strong South Jersey COS team” to take back power from the centralized federal government and restore a strong self-governance to local and state levels.

Volunteer Willi Kusche brought delicious homemade chili
to the event at the Lunacy Brewery in Haddon Heights.

At the meeting in Pennsauken, Bill explained the importance of a strong grassroots army of engaged activists that develop relationships with their communities and district legislators, emphasizing that idea is what the Framers mean to be self-governed.

Without a self-governing people, Article V of the Constitution (which allows calling for a Convention of States through state legislatures, bypassing Congress) will remain an untapped solution as powerful and as big as the problem of a federal leviathan.

Consider showing your support for Convention of States by signing the petition or joining the COS NJ team at no cost or obligation. Please visit the Take Action page to look for easy ways you can make a difference.
