===== September is a Month of Constitution Action =====

September is always a big month for Convention of States Action in Kansas and 2025 will be HUGE! The month kicks off September 4-6 with Johnson County Old Settlers Festival in Olathe and September 5-14 in Hutchinson at the State Fair. September 15 is Article V Day and this year we will host our inaugural Article V Town Hall Meeting in Overland Park featuring Kansas Speaker of the House Dan Hawkins. Constitution Day is September 17.

==== Kansas State Fair, Hutchinson, September 5-14 ====

More than 40 volunteers will be collecting petitions at the Kansas State Fair this year as they inform fair goers about the opportunity to institute permanent government reform through the state-initiated amendment process in Article V. This is the largest petition event we have in Kansas. Hundreds of Kansans hear about Article V and sign the petition every day of the fair.

You are welcome to drop by and meet our volunteers at our booth in the Meadowlark Building. Bring a friend.

==== Johnson County Old Settlers Festival, Olathe, September 4-6 ====

This annual event celebrates the heritage, history and community spirit of Kansas' most populous county. Downtown Olathe is transformed into a fairgrounds complete with carnival, musical entertainment, food, beer garden, crafts and commercial vendors. There is even a parade on Saturday morning. We will be there. Our booth is right in the middle of the commercial vendors north of the old Courthouse.

The awards presentation will begin at 4:00 p.m. CT in the Newton High School Library/Media Center (900 W. 12th Ave., Newton).

This event has local sponsorship and the involvement of the four school districts. The Convention of States Foundation is the only national sponsor.

Pub. L. 108–447, div. J, title I, § 111 requires that each educational institution that receives Federal funds for a fiscal year shall hold an educational program on the United States Constitution on September 17 of such year for the students served by the educational institution. ===== Grassroots Action =====

==== Neighborhood Meetings  ====

Neighborhood meetings are a great way to expand support for COS. The Kansas Team is ready to help you host a meeting.  Learn about hosting a neighborhood meeting.

==== Sending Hand-written Letters to Legislators  ====

There are still a few Kansas Representatives indicating they are not ready to support SCR1604 when the session resumes in January 2026. We are reaching them with hand-written correspondence to encourage their support. Kansas can become a passed state if these legislators vote Yes on SCR1604. Click here to learn about two recent letter-writing events, see a sample letter and get names and addresses of reluctant reps.

==== TelePatriot Team ====

We need some help on our TelePatriot (TP) Team. TP is used to contact petition signers about engaging with their legislator or an event. TelePatriot is built in to the COSAction app used by our volunteers. TelePatriot Volunteers can also participate in national missions. We are using TP this year to engage more Kansans. It is so easy once you get started. You don't get dirty, tired or sweaty Learn more about being a TelePatriot Volunteer.

==== Recruiting Leaders and Volunteers ====

We continue to seek volunteers in multiple roles across Kansas. Click here to TAKE ACTION and check out the District Captain or other volunteer roles. District Captains are the leader in a district with the mission to grow the army while maintaining the pulse of your legislators. Work with your Regional Captain of State Grassroots Coordinator.

==== Race to Freedom Summit ====

Join the Kansas delegation in Indianapolis Sept 18-20 for the 2025 Race to Freedom Summit. The summit will bring the grassroots together from across the country as we are inspired and encouraged in our mission to build a an army of self-governing activists. Learn more and sign up here.
