SAVE ~ An ACT Worth Doing.
 The SAVE (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility) ACT is also known as U.S. Senate bill S4292 and U.S. House of Representatives bill HR 8281. Here’s what it is designed to accomplish. * Amends the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA, 1993), to require states to obtain documentary proof of U.S. citizenship and identity – in person – when registering to vote in a Federal election. * Ensures only US citizens are registered to vote in federal elections.  * Requires states to establish a program to remove non-citizens from existing voter rolls. * Empowers U.S. citizens to bring civil suits against non-compliant election officials. * Provides for prompt updating to any guidance associated with the SAVE Act. WHY Is it Needed? * It is estimated that 10-27% of the 20 million non-citizens of voting age in 2022 are illegally registered to vote. This is enough to tip the vote in U.S. Congressional, Senatorial and Presidential elections. * Biden’s Executive Order 14019 requires all federal agencies to promote voter registration forms and distribute voter registration forms. * The Help America Vote Act (HAVA) requires that states have to verify identity of voters before they can be registered to vote in a federal election, but you don’t have to be a citizen of the US to get a license or a SS number. * Currently there is no mechanism to assure that everyone voting is a citizen. The states don’t have a way to confirm citizenship. * The Supreme Court ruled that states cannot require documentary proof of citizenship. This is in effect until Congress changes it.
