Restoring Free Speech to Florida Health Care Practitioners
| “Something horrible in our country started when smart and credentialed experts started getting muzzled for their opinions.”-Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis On March 3rd Governor De Santis called on the Florida Legislature to protect health care practitioners' freedom of speech and bolster patient access to, and education of COVID-19 treatments through right to prescribe. House Bill 687, and Senate Bill 1184 would solidify the rights of free speech of the health Care Practitioners Act. “Frontline workers continue to face threats to their licenses if they dissent from the prevailing narrative of the medical establishment,” said Governor DeSantis. Another case of the fox guarding the henhouse when bureaucrats at the federal level are making policy from politics, rather than allowing the highly trained Health Workers hold intimate and authentic dialogue with patients for the approaches needed for treatment. Given the choice, would you choose the council of a Senator, or Health Care professional in the decision-making process of your personal health care? If our Federal Government is truly invested in our health care, then why wouldn't their policies reflect free speech among practitioners and patients? When speech is limited, thought is also limited. Where is efficacy found in the limiting of thought processes in any forum? Groupthink is only a euphemism for federal control. Following the science seems a noble act among the citizenry as long as it is Political science! Governor DeSantis believes that these bills will ensure that the woke corporations cannot prevent a doctor from exercising their sound judgement via interference with a doctor's recommendation for COVID-19 treatment if the patient agrees. Options are to medical treatment, like the colors and hues are to an artist. Imagine the impact of limitations taking place not only in the world of the practitioner and artist, but the patient and observer. If I were trying to be the best version of health for myself, it stands to reason that I would enlist the council of a trained medical professional… I sure as heck wouldn't be calling my Federal Representative to talk about my treatment plan! The quelling of medical debate, intentional silencing of physicians, and callous disregard for the sanctity of doctor-client decision making should not be inhibited by bureaucratic interferences. Perhaps yet again, Florida will be a model for freedom of expression within our nation and other states can benefit from the example. The limiting of freedoms is why the Convention of States was added as Article 5 in the Constitution. Being a volunteer within COS will provide you the means of helping to restore America back into the image and vision of our forefathers.
