Race to Freedom Summit in Indianapolis a Winner
| The Race to Freedom Summit was a 3-day gathering of teams from all 50 states featuring impactful speakers and over 24 workshops to hone COS activist skills. Four members of the Maryland State team made the trip to Indianapolis: Michael Tedeschi (Social Media Warrior), Bob Betz (State Information Analyst), Dave Hafer (District Captain) and Maria Bedard (State Director). COS President and co-founder opened the Summit with a blunt call to action: BE BOLD and SPEAK TRUTH We were treated to headline speakers, namely, Indiana Governor Mike Braun who is a long time Convention of States supporter. His Lt. Governor, Micah Beckwith, set the audience ablaze with his fiesty & humorous rhetoric. Also on tap were Calley Means of the White House MAHA team and Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts. You can watch all the speeches at the COS YouTube page. The awards banquet on Saturday night was followed up with Dr. Michael Farris' speech “In for the Long Haul” imploring activists to persevere and be patient with the process. Speaking of perseverance, the awards banquet featured a new award, the John Quincy Adams Award. It's awarded to a Convention of States patriot that embodies the Adam's quote “Duty is ours. Results belong to God.” Maryland volunteer Michael Rilee is the first recipient to receive this meaningful tribute from a grateful citizen activist group. Mike Rilee is a former volunteer activist, District Captain, State Communications Director and State Director. Mike excels at all he does and his impact on the Maryland team is immeasurable. He's an inspiration to us all and in all that we do. COS Action Maryland District Captain, Dave Hafer among the contingent representing Maryland at the 2025 National Convention of States Summit in Indianapolis offers his take on the Summit experience: My personal belief before the summit was that the assassination of Charlie Kirk has profoundly changed political discourse in the United States. The Overton Window has been smashed. What was up is now down, what was down is now up. After the summit, I am fortified by the comments and reaction from both speakers and attendees alike. I am not alone. It is obvious that we have a very deep bench of morally based leaders with exceptional talent. This gives me such hope for the future of our country. I am proud to be associated with such Patriotic and motivated Americans.
