Patriots unite at Convention of States volunteer social

“COS is the method by which we can enact change for our children and grandchildren,” John said.

On August 22 more than two dozen patriots gathered in Sumter, South Carolina, for the inaugural monthly Convention of States Midlands Region Social, organized by District Captain Philip Good.

The keynote speaker was the Rev. Leon Winn, candidate for the South Carolina Senate in District 36.

This event built on the experience of our Upstate Region (Greenville) of the team-building value of regular recurring socials. We plan to expand the practice with regular local meetings in the population centers around the state, with food, fellowship, speakers, and COS updates.

State Videographer Amy Hill took the opportunity of a captive audience to record interviews with activists describing how they joined COS and their experiences to date.

State Information Analyst Don Dinkel trained new volunteers on the COSAction App. Grassroots Coordinator Bob Schnaible distributed the updated training package for new District Captains, and Legislative Liaison Sam McDonald answered questions about legislative strategy for the upcoming session.

Philip Good gave a recap of Sumter activities he’s led: running a COS booth at the county fair, attending monthly meetings of the County GOP, attending hearings of the House Judiciary Committee on COS, making calls with the TelePatriot App, and encouraging the continued co-sponsorship of his state representative.

Invited guest Jeffrey Zell recounted to Amy what issues could be addressed by an Article V convention: creeping socialism, incrementalism, and the threat it poses to our future.

Lexington District Captain “Passionate Pat” Tondini has led three catered public library meetings on COS and organized two neighborhood block walks.

“It feels good being with people who love our country and want to make it better!” she said.

Businessman and District Captain John Thompson got involved after watching the country heading towards socialism.

“COS is the method by which we can enact change for our children and grandchildren,” John said.

Volunteer Amy Hill got involved on behalf of her grandchildren, because we are losing the republic envisioned by our Founders. She likes that she can set her own schedule based on time available.

“Article V is the safe and peaceful method to propose amendments to our Constitution,” Amy said.
