Even more importantly, this will be an awesome opportunity to meet with hundreds of other grassroots leaders from across the nation. See you in Indy! ![]() COS Anniversaries No State Anniversaries Days to put on your Calendar for September: * September 11 is Patriot Day, held in honor and remembrance of those who died in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. * September 15 is George Mason Day. This day celebrates our Founder who insisted on a mechanism to allow We the People to amend the constitution without government interference. * September 17 is Constitution Day. This day celebrates the adoption of the U.S. Constitution, which occurred on September 17, 1787 ![]() Mark Meckler's Comments Mark, Rita Peters and Mike Farris are in Washington DC to meet with individuals today trying to increase support from Washington. Mark discussed the need for all of us to be prepared should this happen and have a plan in place for new volunteers in the Follow Up Tool, more public speaking, and increased awareness of the organization should this be successful. He reminds us that it is God's Providence but we should all pray for the best situation for COS. Take part in the 5 for Article V campaign (this campaign may be the biggest one we have done yet) to obtain petitions from our friends and relatives. Can you imagine how many petitions we could get if everyone got 5 people? It is an easy ask, let's all do it!! ![]() Legislative Activity It is Fair and Festival time - what happens at Fairs and Festivals besides yummy food we shouldn't eat? Petitions! Our teams are out in force bringing them in! Be sure to check out the phenomenal petition update later in the Update! We are changing our terminology at COS! As we move into District Season, we refocus closer to home than while in the Capitol (Legislative) Season. It is time for us to get our teams fired up about connecting with their legislators on our home turf. This is the easiest time for us to connect with our legislators. ![]() District Captain Activity KUDOS to the Top Most Active DC teams by % in the Passed States - Arkansas, Indiana, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Mississippi. All 100% activity! Great Job teams!! District Captain and Volunteer activity is an area we really need to focus on. Those activity/action reports are available to communicate to our donors all the great work each of you are doing out there in the trenches! It only takes a second to file an action report on your phone or computer or go into Citizen Builder and make a note. For those District Captains reading this, we need to strive for 100% activity in Citizen Builder! Remember, an action report will give you activity! ![]() Fun Fact for the Week George Washington gave the shortest inauguration speech in American history on March 4, 1793. It was only 133 words long. William Henry Harrison gave the longest at 8,443 words on March 4, 1841 on a cold and blustery day in Washington, D.C.. He died one month later of a severe cold. ![]() Social Media Program Let's all help with the new Social Media Program! Watch for your notifications or emails at 10:00 AM Eastern Monday thru Friday. Takes only about 1-3 minutes to carry out the call to action! It has proven to be one of our most effective tools!! http://www.conventionofstates.com/social As with all new things, a few rules follow - remember: Do NOT tag or message legislators; Do NOT ask others to contact legislators or sign the petition; and Do NOT post on legislator's posts or pages We are getting lots of good feedback from this program, the more who participate, the greater the impact! Let's all get involved!! We have even picked up several very active sites that are following us now and posting about COS. Per Mark Meckler - please tell as many people as possible to participate in the Social Media effort to help us combat negative comments there! ![]() New Happenings! Feel free to use your .us email address now! You can now start using your COS email address with the .us ending. Your COS action email will work but we will be moving toward the .us ending over the next year. Everything else remains the same except for the .us instead of .com! Your old .com address will forward to the new address. If you purchase business cards or any other material with your email address on it, please use the new cosaction.us. Spoiler Alert - you will still need to sign into Citizen Builder with whatever email address you have used in the past! Zulip News Are you having difficulty getting your teams on Zulip? If you need help, reach out to your RD and they can hook you up with assistance! We have dedicated Grassroots leaders who understand the system available to help get you and your team ready to go. Want to get in on your own? Check this out! Let's get our teammates on so we can make it the great communication tool it can be. We would like to see a more robust participation with this new format. Using the Zulip App is much easier than trying to work in a browser. Help your teams use the platform in the most effective way, have them download the app here: Zulip App. Fun things happening in the Zulip COS Leaders organization so get in there and catch up!
