Passed States Monday Update - October 10, 2025
This update is provided to keep you posted on organizational changes and updates. We are issuing this weekly report each Monday that the National Team meets! Information shared can be shared with your teams! Hope you enjoy it. Be sure to read to the end, lots of links and information throughout!! ![]() COS Anniversaries No State Anniversaries October Events in the Revolutionary War October 1765: Stamp Act Congress Delegates from nine colonies met in New York City to protest the Stamp Act, marking the first unified colonial action against British taxation and asserting that Parliament could not tax the colonies. October 3, 1775: George Washington's General Order General Washington issued an order banning all gambling and addressing the treasonous actions of Dr. Benjamin Church, who was arrested and writing to Washington to plead for mercy. October 11, 1776: Battle of Valcour Island In this naval battle, Benedict Arnold and his American ships fought against the British on Lake Champlain. Though Arnold's fleet was largely defeated, his defense delayed a British advance into the Hudson River Valley. October 28, 1776: Battle of White Plains Following a series of British victories and their occupation of New York City, General George Washington's Continental Army suffered a defeat at White Plains and was forced to retreat. September-October 1777: Battles of Saratoga After two key battles, the American victories at Saratoga were considered the turning point of the Revolutionary War, significantly boosting Patriot morale and convincing France to formally recognize the United States. October 7, 1780: Battle of Kings Mountain This significant battle in South Carolina resulted in a major defeat for the British and Loyalist forces, marking a crucial turning point in the southern campaign. October 19, 1781: Siege of Yorktown The land war of the Revolution effectively ended with the British surrender at Yorktown, Virginia, a Franco-American victory that was a decisive event in the conflict. ![]() Mark Meckler's Comments Mark is on his second week of a well deserved vacation, but come back here next week as I am sure he will have inspiring and meaningful topics for us!! We did hear from Rick Santorum - Rick talked about a very productive trip that he took to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, last week, during which he met with several legislators about the COS resolution, including Rep. Brian Mulder. He stated that it reinforced the importance of traveling to states in order to talk with legislators when they are out of session. He also discussed his appearance before the Yale Political Union regarding the subject of prayer in school, and his impressions of the 250 students who attended – particularly their lack of demonstrated knowledge about the most fundamental aspects of our founding documents. ![]() Legislative Activity If you have not had the chance to attend a session on “Apologetics” yet, check out this link and get comfortable with the process. Paul Phillips presents the information in an easy to understand presentation that will be so meaningful for you as you address issues with your legislator. Refer to this information frequently and often. Who better to share information with than your legislator? As fall moves into winter, and District Season into Capitol or Legislative season around the country, let's make sure we take advantage of our last District Season days (when you can find your legislator in their offices at home) and get in touch with them and let them know we are here to work with them. ![]() District Captain Activity KUDOS to the Top Most Active DC teams by % in the Passed States - Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Mississippi. All 100% activity! Great Job teams!! District Captain and Volunteer activity is an area we really need to focus on. Those activity/action reports are available to communicate to our donors all the great work each of you are doing out there in the trenches! It only takes a second to file an action report on your phone or computer or go into Citizen Builder and make a note. For those District Captains reading this, we need to strive for 100% activity in Citizen Builder! Remember, an action report will give you activity! ![]() Fun Fact for the Week The American Revolution was unique because it established the first large-scale republic governed by a written constitution, declared independence from a colonial power in a successful war of liberation, and served as a global inspiration for democratic ideals and movements for the next 250 years. It was a complex civil conflict with significant global involvement and established foundational democratic principles for a new nation, though with significant limitations of the era. ![]() Social Media Program Let's all help with the new Social Media Program! Watch for your emails Monday thru Friday; check out the Zulip Leaders Organization of the same days; or use the link below. Takes only about 1-3 minutes to carry out the call to action! It has proven to be one of our most effective tools!! http://www.conventionofstates.com/social As with all new things, a few rules follow - remember: Do NOT tag or message legislators; Do NOT ask others to contact legislators or sign the petition; and Do NOT post on legislator's posts or pages We are getting lots of good feedback from this program, the more who participate, the greater the impact! Let's all get involved!! We have even picked up several very active sites that are following us now and posting about COS. Per Mark Meckler - please tell as many people as possible to participate in the Social Media effort to help us combat negative comments there! ![]() New Happenings! Please Note: The bad guys are attacking our email system which may result in delays or missed emails. Beware of this issue and be sure to follow up on the status of your email blasts. We apologize for these issues as we work to get them corrected! Prayers are welcomed!! Feel free to use your .us email address now! You can now start using your COS email address with the .us ending.
