COS AnniversariesNo State Anniversaries July 4th, 1776 (Independence Day) ![]() Notes from Mark Meckler and Rick Santorum Rick focused his discussion around what a great week it is for Convention of States and the Big Beautiful Bill passing. - Although the bill has some good features, in it continues to increase the spending of our federal government. - The Big Beautiful Bill proves how essential an amending Article V convention is to our country. - Although there were cuts included, there was much more growth that was not offset. - Congress swung and missed - clearly showing that they will not reduce the federal bureaucracy significantly. - Trump stated “I am not for cuts!” Although he is not for cuts, he does understand the problem with the bloated federal system. - We elected good people, they were unable to move the needle significantly, We need a convention of the states (an amending Article V convention) NOW! Mark seconded Rick's points providing a rundown of the situation in Texas post the flash floods of the Guadalupe River in several counties. - Camp Mystic is a historic camp with 750 campers at any time. It is believed that at least 20 of the deaths were small children (7-8) from the camp and possibly one of the owners who was attempting to rescue them. - There is a book written by Tim Dunn Yellow Balloons that might help those questioning God in all of this. There is also a song by the same name that might help as well. - We must all pray for the victims, their families, and the first responders who are extremely taxed with the tragedy of this event. - The fallacy of Elon Musk forming a third party is ludicrous - it has only served to split the vote in the past (think Ross Perot's effort) and serves us not at all. - The Tea Party created the largest swing vote of all time and failed. The answer is an Article V amending constitution NOW!! - If you have not seen The National Monument to the Forefathers or read about it, you should check it out for the intent of our founders can be found there. This is what we need to reinstall in our country - God driven principles of effective government. - Mark called the Big Beautiful Bill a junk sandwich - some good with lots of junk in the middle. Mark did request that we clarify our content with Convention of States being the organization, a convention of the states being an amending convention. It is important that we use the terms correctly. Legislative Activity As we move into District Season, we refocus closer to home than while in the Capitol Season. It is time for us to get our teams fired up about connecting with their legislators on our home turf. We need to also focus on building our teams to be the best we can be as we strive to fulfill the mission of Growing the Largest Grassroots Army! If you missed this in the last update on COS NOW be sure to check this out - great work and hats off to all of you! Catch it here. Calling all State Content Writers!! Fun Fact for the Week The reason your Coke tastes so good from McDonald's? They use only refrigerated syrup - it is kept cold from start to finish - when it comes out in your cup. They have engineered the process so that your coke will taste the same from first to last sip with just the right amount of ice added for that perfect taste.
