You Don't want to miss it!! ![]() COS Anniversaries No State Anniversaries An interesting August Birthday Fact - The most popular birthday in August is August 8, with 12,006 average daily births, and the least popular birthday in August is August 3, with 11,367 average daily births. ![]() Mark Meckler's Comments Mark discussed the success of the Emerging Leaders program and the interns we have had. Two of our interns are now serving in the White House. They make an impact wherever they go. As sterling representatives of what a patriot looks like, they consistently move mountains wherever life leads them. We had 260 applicants for our 8 spots this year. Our Leaders Launchpad, the state version of the Emerging Leaders, is growing with 30 states having candidates this year! Thank you all for helping these two programs be successful. In a discussion about culture and COS, Mark pointed out that we live our Core Values and they drive this organization at all levels. We live them, they are not just a sign on the wall. This is what makes our organization so special. Be familiar with the values and continue to demonstrate them in all we do. Mark stated the reflection of these values is what makes him proudest about COS. We are the culture! Take part in the 5 for Article V campaign (this campaign may be the biggest one we have done yet) to obtain petitions from our friends and relatives. Can you imagine how many petitions we could get if everyone got 5 people? It is an easy ask, let's all do it!! ![]() Legislative Activity It is Fair and Festival time - what happens at Fairs and Festivals besides yummy food we shouldn't eat? Petitions! Our teams are out in force bringing them in! We are changing our terminology at COS! As we move into District Season, we refocus closer to home than while in the Capitol (Legislative) Season. It is time for us to get our teams fired up about connecting with their legislators on our home turf. This is the easiest time for us to connect with our legislators. ![]() District Captain Activity KUDOS to the Top Most Active DC teams by % in the Passed States - Arkansas, Indiana, and Oklahoma and Mississippi. All 100% activity! Great Job teams!! District Captain and Volunteer activity is an area we really need to focus on. Those activity/action reports are available to communicate to our donors all the great work each of you are doing out there in the trenches! It only takes a second to file an action report on your phone or computer or go into Citizen Builder and make a note. For those District Captains reading this, we need to strive for 100% activity in Citizen Builder! Remember, an action report will give you activity! ![]() Fun Fact for the Week Ben Franklin's eccentricities included many things but this one didn't make it. He once had a plan to rearrange the English alphabet by eliminating the letters C, J, Q, W, X, and Y, declaring them redundant. It didn't katch on. ![]() Social Media Program Let's all help with the new Social Media Program! Watch for your notifications or emails at 10:00 AM Eastern Monday thru Friday. Takes only about 1-3 minutes to carry out the call to action! It has proven to be one of our most effective tools!! **http:%%//%%www.conventionofstates.com/social** As with all new things, a few rules follow - remember: Do NOT tag or message legislators; Do NOT ask others to contact legislators or sign the petition; and Do NOT post on legislator's posts or pages We are getting lots of good feedback from this program, the more who participate, the greater the impact! Let's all get involved!! We have even picked up several very active sites that are following us now and posting about COS. Per Mark Meckler - please tell as many people as possible to participate in the Social Media effort to help us combat negative comments there! New Happenings! Feel free to use your .us email address now! You can now start using your COS email address with the .us ending. Your COS action email will work but we will be moving toward the .us ending over the next year. Everything else remains the same except for the .us instead of .com! Your old .com address will forward to the new address. If you purchase business cards or any other material with your email address on it, please use the new cosaction.us. Spoiler Alert - you will still need to sign into Citizen Builder with whatever email address you have used in the past! Zulip News Are you having difficulty getting your teams on Zulip? If you need help, reach out to your RD and they can hook you up with assistance! We have dedicated Grassroots leaders who understand the system available to help get you and your team ready to go. Let's get our teammates on so we can make it the great communication tool it can be. We would like to see a more robust participation with this new format. Using the Zulip App is much easier than trying to work in a browser. Help your teams use the platform in the most effective way, have them download the app here: Zulip App. Emails for the COS Leaders organization have gone out - these emails were good for only 10 days so if you missed it, check with your SD or SIA to get an invite. Fun things happening in the Zulip COS Leaders organization so get in there and catch up! Zulip COS Leaders organization takes the place of many of the Slack workspaces (such as DC and other leader workspaces).
