Out of control spending. Out of control people.
If you encounter people who are feeling hopeless, take some quiet time to walk them through Article V. Let them know there are thousands of Americans fighting to bring the federal government under control. We will prevail, and we will hold hope for them until they can feel it themselves.
| As of July 25, 2023, the federal debt is $32 trillion dollars. The men and women elected to represent us in Congress have given American citizens a crippling debt, violent general welfare, and inflation for added discomfort. And those are just three of the challenges facing Americans today. RE the Debt: People have tried for decades to unbloat the federal budget and failed. Founded in 1984, Citizens Against Government Waste has worked to eliminate waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in government through research and public education. Their Congressional Pig Book exposes pork-barrel spending, but the barrels of pork roll on. The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget educates the public on issues with significant fiscal policy impact. In early 2023, they tried to help with debt ceiling negotiations. On July 25, 2023 they wrote the following: Sometimes it feels like lawmakers just cannot help themselves – they see any chance to make the deficit worse, and they take it. The Congressional Budget Office has also failed to rein in Congress’ irresponsible spending. Look at what Sen. Ron Johnson and Rep Mick Mulvaney tried to do in 2011: Reduce the Size of the Federal Government Through Attrition. It didn't work. Bloat versus what the founders had in mind Here are the enumerated powers of Congress. It begins: The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defense and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States; Take a gander on how the tightly defined list of Constitutional powers in Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution plays out in the 2023 Federal Budget. Convention of States is the good news in the midst of madness When an Article V convention is called, the platform will be focused on imposing fiscal restraints on the federal government, limiting the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, and imposing term limits on Congress and federal officials. One of Mark Levin’s suggestions for a Constitutional Amendment within those constraints is requiring every federal agency to be reauthorized every three years in a stand-alone bill or else expire, plus require a seven-member House committee to approve all regulations with an economic burden greater than $100 million within six months or cancel implementation of the regulation. In his last speech to Congress in November of 2012, Ron Paul said, People should choose liberty and limit government and seek change within themselves. His heart is aligned with Convention of States. If you encounter people who are feeling hopeless, take some quiet time to walk them through Article V. Let them know there are thousands of Americans fighting to bring the federal government under control. We will prevail, and we will hold hope for them until they can feel it themselves. # | PETITION_WIDGET{petition_tag:Today's Your Day to Sign the Petition;coalition_id:;anedot_url:} | # |
