Our Nation is Being Destroyed Little by Little
Two recent news stories illustrate the ongoing and gradual decline of America under the “yoke of woke” infecting our institutions of higher education.
| Two recent news stories illustrate the ongoing and gradual decline of America under the “yoke of woke” infecting our institutions of higher education. The first is an item on how the push for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) will have negative effects on the quality of our nation’s future doctors, nurses and other medical professionals. By requiring medical schools to toe the DEI line, the Association of American Medical Colleges, along with the American Medical Association, is wielding its power as the accrediting organization to push its leftist policies in the healthcare professions. This can only lead to the overall decline of the American healthcare system, as the best and brightest applicants to medical school are invariably passed over in favor of a more diverse applicant pool consisting of an acceptable number of supposedly “marginalized” individuals. It will be interesting to see how the Supreme Court rules in Case Number 20-1199, Students for Fair Admissions v. President and Fellows of Harvard College. The second story hits close to home as Princeton University is considering removing a statue of its sixth president and of one of our beloved signers from New Jersey, John Witherspoon. Students at the university have presented a petition calling for the statue to be removed and replaced with a small plaque noting the positive and negative aspects of Witherspoon’s life. While it is true that Witherspoon owned two slaves, it is also true that he was a staunch supporter of liberty and lost one of his sons during the Battle of Germantown in the American Revolution. Like many of our Founding Fathers, Witherspoon was conflicted about slavery. No man is perfect. This great country was founded by imperfect men doing what they thought was best during the times in which they lived. The current craze to remove historical statues because their presence causes some people discomfort, as the students claim in their petition, is another example of the radical and pathetic ideology being pushed in our colleges and universities. Where does it stop? |
