Oklahoma COS Capitol Surge 2022 A Great Success

The Oklahoma COS Capitol Surge 2022 kicked off on February 15th with more than 20 citizen volunteers in attendance.

The Oklahoma COS Capitol Surge 2022 kicked off on February 15th with more than 20 citizen volunteers in attendance. Joined by State Director John Guinn, Regional Director for the Passed States Jonathan Viaud, Events Coordinator Martin Piel, State Grassroots Coordinator Becky Wolfe, and other state leaders, the group gathered in the lobby to coordinate the teams that would distribute COS information to 148 Representatives and Senators.

Gathering in lobby before surge

Many volunteers were able to meet with their representatives and senators, and one Senator opposed to the Convention of States was surprised that he was able to express his concerns to listening ears and reasonable responses.

Several volunteers heard one common theme from legislators on both sides of the aisle that the legislature is being controlled by corporate interests and bills being proposed are being blocked from going anywhere because of the legislators who support those interests. This raised concerns about how bills we support will make it to the floor.

COS President Mark Meckler surprised the group with a call to express how proud he is of the Oklahoma team and all they've been able to accomplish over the last year. He also announced that State Grassroots Coordinator, Becky Wolfe, was being awarded the prestigious COS Challenge Coin.

Becky with Certificate of Appreciation

Only 300 coins were minted before the mold was broken. These coins are awarded to volunteers that provide extraordinary servant leadership and truly epitomize the values of the COS movement.

Becky has been an incredible asset to the Oklahoma team, and her sacrifice and dedication make her an exceedingly worthy recipient.

Thanks to all the volunteers who attended! We look forward to seeing even more participation next year. This is what freedom looks like in action.
