Ratified in 1791 as part of the Bill of Rights…The second amendment wording is…. “ A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

This year's National Rifle Association held its Annual Convention in Atlanta Georgia April 25-27, 2025 and Convention of States was there. We attend gun shows all across the country to spread the news of Article V, invite citizens to engage in the mission, be a supporter or join the team as we collect thousands of petitions each year.  This was a chance to share why an Article V convention is not just necessary but urgent. A Convention of States mission is to add lasting constitutional amendments regarding 3 topics: States Rights, Term limits and Fiscal Restraint to rein in an out-of-control federal government.  Our uplifting story advancing self-governance and defending constitutional rights is as important today as it was in 1776. Just about 600 new petitions were signed at this event but thousands of people each year learn about our mission and strategy across the nation at gun shows and other events, giving them hope. Gun owners in Georgia and across the nation need to be in fighting shape at all times. As an example, here are some recent rights infringements by State Legislatures around the country: == In Nevada, Democrats just passed Assembly Bill 245, banning anyone under 21 from owning semiautomatic rifles or shotguns in total violation of the Constitution and common sense.  == == In Connecticut, Democrats are pushing a bill to let crime victims sue gun manufacturers and sellers. This is a scheme to bankrupt the gun industry and starve us of firearms. == == In Illinois, Senate Bill 8 is a gun control nightmare gaining traction.
