New Coalition: Gun Owners for Convention of States

Gun owners have united around the Convention of States Project. Check out the statement below and consider joining this exciting new coalition.

As American patriots who fully appreciate and enjoy the blessings of liberty secured to us by our forefathers, including the right to bear arms which is enshrined in the Second Amendment, we unite behind the Convention of States Project, an effort to use the constitutional power of the states to impose limitations on the power and scope of our overreaching federal government. We seek to ensure that a convention to propose amendments, convened under the Convention of States Project application, will consider amendment proposals to reclaim our democratic and individual freedoms from an overreaching federal government:

o In the words of Charles Cooper, longtime Constitutional Law litigator for the NRA: “The real threat to our constitutional rights today is posed not by an Article V convention of the states, but by an out-of-control federal government, exercising powers that it does not have and abusing powers that it does.” Cooper's full article can be reached through the link provided below.

o To carefully define Congress’ power to regulate commerce among the several states, which has been stretched far beyond its original meaning and is now interpreted to give Congress virtually unlimited power over commercial activity—including the manufacture and sale of guns—even within a single state.
