Municipal Elections an opportunity to make a difference

City council elections as opportunity to engage whether running yourself, or working for candidates.

Convention of States supporters are about more than an Article V convention of states to rein in an out-of-control federal government. All of us are encouraged to become politically active at the local level, if we are not already doing so.

The upcoming municipal elections are a perfect example.

In Henderson, Polk and Rutherford counties, municipal elections have occurred in odd numbered years, resulting in lower voter turnout. But as a result of recent legislation championed by your North Carolina Senator Tim Moffitt, those elections will now occur in even years with all other elections.

Interested in running yourself? For most of these non-partisan races, the filing deadline will be December 4-15, 2023.

To find out if you vote in a municipal election for your city, visit this page at the North Carolina Board of Elections. After putting in your name, scroll down to see if there is a municipality listed. Then you can visit the website for that municipality to see what seats might be up for election in the 2024 election cycle.

Getting involved in your municipal elections, whether that means working for a candidate of your choice or running yourself, is important.
