SAMPLE EMAIL

Hi Representative Bierlein,

It is very important to me that Michigan has a way to send commissioners to represent us at an Article V Convention if one is called. I just learned that Representative Luke Meerman is going to introduce the 34Ready Resolution and Bill this week, and I am writing to request that you co-sponsor both pieces of legislation.

Thank you for serving YOUR CITY/TOWNSHIP,

YOUR NAME
YOUR ADDRESS or COUNTY (This will tell your legislator that you are a constituent)

WHAT’S IN THE 34READY LEGISLATION?

**Commissioner Selection Resolution** that establishes clear processes for the selection, functioning, and oversight of the Commissioners that will represent Michigan at an Article V convention.

Criminal Penalty Bill that establishes criminal penalties for commissioners who act beyond their authority and/or for members of the public who try to bribe or otherwise coerce a commissioner.

WHY IT MATTERS

With so much momentum in favor of an Article V Convention, it is critical that Michigan has legislation in place that:

* Ensures Michigan's representation at a Convention.
* Establishes clear processes and instructions for the selection, functioning, and oversight of Commissioners.
* Eliminates confusion or uncertainty regarding the penalty for anyone attempting to manipulate an Article V Convention/Commissioners into exceeding the scope of it/their authority.
* Together, the Commissioner Selection Resolution & Criminal Penalty Bill are designed to do all these things.

This Legislation Also Answers Questions Like:

* What Qualifications will there be for Commissioners?
* Who will nominate the Commissioners in Michigan?
* How many Commissioners will there be?
* How will the Michigan Legislature direct/instruct/remove Commissioners?
* What limits will there be on the Commissioners' authority?
* What Criminal Penalties will there be for Commissioners who attempt to exceed their authority?
* What Criminal Penalties will there be for anyone attempting to coerce a commissioner?
