Massachusetts Team Gets Festive and Decorated

| Holiday spirit, glad tidings, and celebrating outstanding team members were the orders of the evening as the Massachusetts COS team gathered at its Christmas party in Plymouth on December 6. Held at the Cabby Shack restaurant on the town wharf, upwards of 50 MA COS team members who traveled from all corners of the Commonwealth (and even New Hampshire) attended. Guests included state representative Mathew J. Muratore of District 1 in Plymouth, who recently agreed to co-sponsor the COS Resolution in the next session of the Massachusetts General Court. Legendary and irreplaceable former MA COS team member Becky Giambarresi, who made a special point to stop in on her way to her winter home in Florida, addressed the group. Becky detailed her experiences as a leader and emphasized the importance of holding monthly meetings, reflecting on how far the team has come. Regional Director Monica Sellers and State Director Michael Arnold arranged for COSA President Mark Meckler to join via a video message to award two Challenge Coins. Grassroots Coordinators/District Captains Haley Shaw and Mark Marshall were named as the latest Challenge Coin recipients from Massachusetts (click on the links to view Mark Meckler's messages for each). Mark Meckler detailed the accomplishments and contributions of each, including Haley's perseverance in the face of losing a job because she refused to be forced to take a Covid vaccine, and Mark Marshall's willingness to expand his work as the team's new Legislative Liaison. Both Haley and Mark were duly recognized as the epitome of servant leadership that is essential to the success of the COS movement. The evening was punctuated by the fellowship and inspiring esprit de corps that characterizes the MA COS team's attitude and approach. It was a terrific way to end a calendar year that saw the team make Massachusetts the first blue state in the union to pass the COS Resolution out of committee. Much work lies ahead as the new session of the General Court begins soon and the resolution process begins anew, but the spirit of the evening demonstrated that the team is ready, growing, and equal to the task. |
