Marilynn Grant: Honesty is Her Superpower

In recognition of her extraordinary leadership, service to others and her dedicated volunteer spirit, Marilynn Grant, COS MI Team Videographer, was awarded the COS Patriot Pin. She is the wife of Region Captain Nick Grant, whom everyone calls “Chet.” Chet was present when Marilynn received the recognition on Tuesday, May 20 in Lansing, while about 20 members of the MI team were together at the State Capitol for Lobby Day.

“Marilynn Grant is solely responsible for the expansion of our communications footprint into video. She works tirelessly, editing the podcasts and providing messaging for our events and awards. We wouldn't be where we are today without her knowledge, experience, and commitment to COS,” said Robin Riddell, State Communications Coordinator.

“I volunteer to spread the word,” Marilynn declared.

Previously uninterested in politics and government, Marilynn got involved with COS to support Chet in his work as District Captain. “I went to his meetings, asked questions, and made comments to raise audience engagement,” she said.

From her years tracking and producing content to support her son's activities in the realm of robotics, Marilynn became proficient in the use of digital media to communicate her ideas.

“I used Facebook to follow and create posts Travis's robotics events. This prepared me for what I now do for Convention of States in Michigan.”

“My first video for Nick focused on the problem of unelected bureaucrats running everything, which was one of my husband's main concerns,” she said. “I titled it, Washington is Broken.”

Marilynn's political indifference was budding into genuine concern.

“I have a deep respect for honesty,” Marilynn said. “When the late-night shows and morning shows I watched became 'Orange Man Bad' all the time, I started searching for the truth.”

“I treasure the conversations with my son and husband. The three of us have very different views, which proves that people who see things differently can learn a lot from each other when the goal is to find the truth,” she said.

In 2021, Marilynn joined the Convention of States MI Comms Team. “I saw how Article V can reduce a bloated federal government that won't fix itself,” she said.

“Convention of States is ingrained in the Constitution, and it encourages people to be engaged citizens and know the truth.”

“Marilynn Grant is a person of many talents, and Convention of States is blessed to have her involved,” stated State Information Analyst George Moorman. “Whether creating a tool to help people find needed information about their region and district, working to display a calendar for the Michigan team to use while navigating their schedules, assisting in the creation of website information for the public to become educated, her hands have been busy.”

Congratulations, Marilynn Grant, COS MI State Videographer, Patriot Pin recipient, and engaged, grassroots activist. Thank you for your defense of the First Amendment and your support for Article V and Convention of States!
