Marathon County Summer Picnic was a Team Effort!
“Wisconsin volunteers are coming out of the woodwork.”
Marathon County Republican Party members met our recruiter Daniel Gumbert at a gun show and asked us to do a presentation at one of their events. We finally synced our schedules and were invited to be the last speakers at their June 2018 summer picnic.![]() It was a privilege to meet so many active volunteers, engaged citizens, and a few Wisconsin legislators. Rep. Pat Snyder had just been to one of John Antross's COS meetups in Wausau and realized Wisconsin had more to do in limiting the federal government with Article V. He seemed to be familiar with us through Facebook also. Rep John Spiros was less talkative but seemed supportive and open to learning more. ![]() Vince Gorichan, Doug Dorn, Joe Laufenberg, and I drove up from the southeastern part of the state. Ann Brigham brought her friend Kim from Tomahawk. Local District Captain Duane Gau met with them a few weeks prior to set everything up. Dave Mackie is a new volunteer who came from work just across the street. Randy Wokatsch is also a new volunteer and local farmer who had much to talk about regarding the role of government in his business. Mr. Steiner heard about the meeting from a Facebook event. It was really neat having COS supporters “come out of the woodwork,” so to speak. Lord knows how well the presentation went exactly, but we obtained at least a dozen new petition signatures and many others took literature. One party volunteer said she didn't want to sign the petition until she went to the website and read up on it. “We just have to do something about the federal government,” she said. It's not very difficult to explain how the federal government and states have switched roles. The former should be representing the latter. Instead, in so many ways, the states have become satellite offices of D.C. We can restore liberty for ourselves, our children, and their children. Constitutional amendments work. I'd much rather put my effort into being part of the solution instead of fretting about all of the problems. Everyone can pick a position that fits your schedules and interests or just reach out to your legislators and make your wishes known about having them fill out our survey and getting our triple-edged resolution introduced and passed this next session. Contact [email protected] or 414-750-0327 to have the survey link re-sent. |
