Liberty-loving South Dakotans afloat at state capital
What a great event!
South Dakota citizens gathered in the state capital to show support for liberty with a boat parade and land party on Sept. 12 at Steamboat Park and the Missouri River Causeway in Pierre. The attendees of the event, mostly from Pierre, stopped by the Convention of States information booth to ask questions, sign the petition, and visit about how they are tired of the federal government stepping on their freedoms. We had 15 people sign the COS petition during the three-hour event.  “It was really fun to see everyone with their flags,” said District Captain Deanna Becket. “The COS leaders here–Shirlee Meier and Chris Becket and myself–were excited to be a part of this show of liberty on the mighty Missouri.”  Loud music and displays of flags, bunting, and patriotism were abundant on land and the water. After the water parade, many of the land vehicles gathered to drive the parade route including near the land party on the water.  “Horns, cheers, and smiles were abundant,” added Deanna. “Fresh excitement appeared as people learned about the efforts of COS South Dakota. Some were interested in joining the movement, getting more involved, and volunteering.” When people hear the three pillars of term limits, fiscal responsibility and ending federal overreach they are thrilled to join the movement. All were encouraged to call and write their local legislators, encouraging them to support COS in the upcoming legislative session.  |
