===== Kansas Legislature Set to Open January 13 ===== The 2025-26 session of the Kansas Legislature will open on Monday, January 13. Legislators will be attempting to pass a resolution applying to conduct a convention for proposing amendments in accordance with Article V of the Constitution of the United States. The Kansas Legislature has recorded majority votes on similar resolutions since 2016 but never the two-thirds majority required by the Kansas Constitution. A federal judge is expected to rule this year on the applicability of the Kansas Constitution to establish the number of votes required to pass a resolution defined by Article V of the US Constitution. Contact your legislators to request their support of the COS resolution. Legislator contact information is available at https://www.kslegislature.gov. ===== Federalism, Freedom and Fundamental Rights ===== COS volunteers across the country will be working with state lawmakers to pass legislation that protects or restores freedom, federalism or fundamental rights. The Kansas grassroots will have the opportunity to have your voice heard to promote property tax reform and other issues in the coming session. Stay connected and use that voice to help the legislature protect your rights in 2025. ===== Volunteer Activity ===== Our mission is to build strong, engaged army of self-governing activists. We still need volunteers to step up and and take action in Kansas We continue to recruit leaders in many districts to help more Kansans understand Article V and the founders plan for the states to be a check on an ever-expanding national government.
