===== Is America Ready for an Article V Convention? =====

As Kansas volunteers are gearing up for county fairs and similar public events we are reminded that our mission is to build a strong, engaged army of self-governing activists.

Why do we need an army? We need an army because there are so many Americans lacking a basic understanding of the principles upon which our Republic was founded. Unless more people understand these principles their actions will be dictated by those seeking to destroy the Republic.

What did the Committee of Five mean in the Declaration of Independence when they described our unalienable rights? What are the law of nature and nature's God?

Life: the right to exist and thrive; the right to learn, grow and reproduce; the right to determine a purpose of one's existence. Life is a self-evident truth as a person either exists or does not.

Liberty: the right to take action without infringing on the life or liberty of others;

Pursuit of happiness: seeking to live an ordered and virtuous life. (It is not seeking pleasure or wealth.)

Law of nature and nature's God: The thirteen United States of America asserted their separate and equal status to Great Britain based on God's law as revealed in two forms, nature and scripture. The law of nature is revealed by God in our created humanity through reason and conscience. The laws of God are revealed in scripture in the great divine commands: From Deuteronomy 6:5, love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and strength, and in Leviticus 19:18, love your neighbor as yourself, or Matthew 7:12, do to others as you would have them do to you.

As a COS volunteer you are the cadre of this strong and engaged army of self-governing activists. For the army to be strong and engaged the cadre must lead and teach with strength, courage and passion.

I challenge you to strengthen your understanding of our mission and the principles we need to instill on our friends and neighbors. We will need them to step up and stand with us in the future. We can't wait for the crisis and expect a majority to suddenly get it.

The headings that follow are all about our mission and how we are engaging with Kansans this year to help them understand how Convention of States is working to preserve and strengthen our Republic, and to recruit them to be part of our strong and engaged army.

===== Grassroots Action =====

==== Neighborhood Meetings  ====

Neighborhood meetings are a great way to expand support for COS. The Kansas Team is ready to help you host a meeting.  Learn about hosting a neighborhood meeting.

==== Sending Hand-written Letters to Legislators  ====

There are still a few Kansas Representatives indicating they are not ready to support SCR1604 when the session resumes in January 2026. We are reaching them with hand-written correspondence to encourage their support. Kansas can become a passed state if these legislators vote Yes on SCR1604. Click here to learn about a recent letter-writing event, see a sample letter and get names and addresses of reluctant reps.

==== County Fairs and Petition Events ====

Every year our volunteers are at county or community fairs to introduce COS to the public and collect petitions. So far we are confirmed to be at fairs in Johnson and Leavenworth Counties. Fairs are added to our Grassroots Calendar as our participation is confirmed. See the list of Kansas county fairs. If your fair is not on our Grassroots Calendar we don't have volunteers to work the fair. Contact us if you can help at your fair, if not this year, in 2026.

==== TelePatriot Team ====

TelePatriot (TP) is used to contact petition signers about engaging with their legislator or an event. TelePatriot is built in to the COSAction app used by our volunteers. TelePatriot Volunteers can also participate in national missions. We are using TP this year to engage more Kansans.  Learn more about being a TelePatriot Volunteer.

==== Recruiting Leaders and Volunteers ====

We continue to seek volunteers in multiple roles across Kansas. Click here to TAKE ACTION and check out the District Captain or other volunteer roles. District Captains are the leader in a district with the mission to grow the army while maintaining the pulse of your legislators. Work with your Regional Captain of State Grassroots Coordinator.

==== Social Media Action ====

Convention of States volunteers have been commenting on posts on Facebook or X. We use these posts to educate the public or legislators or counter misinformation. You can become an assigned Social Media Warrior or just jump on to comment. Follow @COS Project on X or conventionofstates on Facebook.
