Injustice to All Americans
| Once again, the proposed federal budget promises to add trillions of dollars to our collective National Debt. This annual travesty, sponsored by Democratic and Republican administrations, continues unabated with no consideration for future Americans, especially our children and grandchildren. Despite repeated warnings by many of the nation’s largest and most respected business leaders against the continued growth of the deficit, it persists without any regard for its consequences to future generations. Another warning recently appeared, as Moody's Credit Rating Agency downgraded the US Government’s debt. This is the first time in our nation's history that this has occurred. It will ultimately result in additional interest cost on the nation's debt. STAGGERING FACTS TO CONSIDER * The current National Debt divided by the number of American citizens equates to over $100,000 for every man, woman, and child. * This figure inches higher every year. And, it fluctuates daily due to interest accumulation. * Nearly half of government expenditures go towards interest payments on the debt, a waste beyond compare. The stage is being set for a lower standard of living for our children and grandchildren, as they will be the ones who will be forced to pay it down through higher taxation rates. Otherwise, a collapse of our monetary system to junk status is very possible. If this is of concern to you, there is something you can do to join the fight to end this insanity. The CONVENTION OF STATES is a grassroots organization working towards calling an Article V convention to address federal government spending by requiring fiscal restraint. Additionally, the CONVENTION OF STATES organization believes, as do 83% of all Americans, that term limits for members of Congress are necessary. Remember the words of Sir Edmund Burke: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men and women to do nothing”.
