Infighting continues to cripple GOP

New tweets from the President are the latest in a back-and-forth battle that is crippling the Republican Party.

What began as a hopeful year for Republicans is turning into a nightmare of infighting, cowardice, and backbiting.

After maintaining control of Congress and securing the White House, GOP supporters expected to advance a liberty-minded, self-governing agenda that put the power back in the hands of the people. They hoped to eliminate federal control of the healthcare system, simplify the tax code, and promote rule of law along the nation’s borders.

Instead, Congress faltered, the President failed to unite his party, and no significant advances have been made.

Just this morning the President took to Twitter to taunt his own party, saying that “8 Dems control the Senate!” and “few bills will be passed” if GOP senators don’t remove the filibuster rule.

The president may be right, but his constant feuding with Sen. Mitch McConnell and Rep. Paul Ryan hasn’t helped him attain his legislative priorities.

If Republicans can’t (or won’t) pass freedom-minded legislation, it’s up to the American people to do it for them. The founders knew this day would come, and they included a safety net in the U.S. Constitution.

Article V allows the states to call a Convention of States “for the purpose of proposing amendments” to the Constitution. These amendments, once ratified by 38 states, can limit the jurisdiction of the federal government, reduce the power of regulatory agencies, and restore the states and the people to their rightful place of authority.

Republicans may not be able to control their own party, but Article V gives the people a way to enact the reforms necessary for the future liberty and prosperity of our country.
