Indiana State Rep. Craig Haggard Endorses COS!
“A convention of the states is our best hope to restore federalism and the balance of power between the national government and the states, just as our Founders intended.”
![]() FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: info@cosaction.com ====== INDIANA REP. CRAIG HAGGARD ENDORSES COS ====== DALLAS, Tex. – Convention of States Action is proud and grateful to have received the official endorsement of Indiana State Representative Craig Haggard. “I’ve seen Washington’s unchecked power threaten the America we love,” said Haggard. “The federal government’s reckless spending and stretching of the Constitution’s boundaries must be stopped,” he continued. “That is why I unequivocally endorse Convention of States. Article V of our Constitution gives us – the people, through our state legislators – the power to propose amendments that limit federal power, impose fiscal responsibility, and set term limits on members of Congress, career bureaucrats, and judges.” “Rep. Craig Haggard’s endorsement shows a strong commitment to restoring constitutional limits on federal power and giving all Americans a voice in restoring federalism and reining in an out-of-control federal government,” said COSA Legislative Associate Paul Phillips. In 2016, Indiana became the sixth state to approve a resolution calling for a limited-purpose Article V convention to discuss and propose amendments to “impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, and limit the terms of office for its officials and for members of Congress”. In the meantime, the Indiana General Assembly has approved legislation in preparation for such a meeting. On March 24, 2025, the House of Representatives passed Senate Bill 450 by a vote of 69-27. The bill, which relates to the appointment of commissioners who will represent the Hoosier State at an Article V convention and had passed the Senate in February, was signed by Governor and COS endorser Mike Braun on April 9. Haggard was first elected to the Indiana House of Representatives in 2022 and represents District 57, which includes parts of Hendricks, Johnson, and Morgan counties and his hometown of Mooresville. He also served as an aviator in the U.S. Marine Corps and the Indiana Air National Guard. Haggard is currently a board member of the National Rifle Association and previously worked as the NRA’s Indiana field representative “A convention of the states is our best hope to restore federalism and the balance of power between the national government and the states,” said Haggard, “just as our Founders intended.” Rep. Haggard’s official endorsement reinforces Indiana’s commitment to calling an Article V convention and aligns with the sentiments of an overwhelming majority of Hoosiers who believe that they can decide best how to govern – not Washington, D.C.
