Indiana Rep. Craig Haggard endorses COS
Another great endorsement for COS!
| Convention of States Action continues to fly higher and faster in 2025. Our effort to call an Article V convention has gained altitude and speed with the recent endorsement of former Marine Corps aviator and current Indiana state representative Craig Haggard. “I’ve seen Washington’s unchecked power threaten the America we love,” said Haggard in his endorsement statement. “The federal government’s reckless spending and stretching of the Constitution’s boundaries must be stopped,” he continued. “That is why I unequivocally endorse Convention of States. Article V of our Constitution gives us – the people, through our state legislators – the power to propose amendments that limit federal power, impose fiscal responsibility, and set term limits on members of Congress, career bureaucrats, and judges.” Haggard was first elected to the Indiana House of Representatives in 2022 and represents District 57, which includes parts of Hendricks, Johnson, and Morgan counties and his hometown of Mooresville. “Rep. Craig Haggard’s endorsement shows a strong commitment to restoring constitutional limits on federal power and giving all Americans a voice in restoring federalism and reining in an out-of-control federal government,” said COSA Legislative Associate Paul Phillips. “The Indiana COS team is thrilled to have the endorsement of Rep. Craig Haggard,” echoed Regional Director Catherine Zemanek. “We know he understands the importance of restoring federalism, and that a convention to propose amendments is the tool state legislators have to balance the power between the states and Washington D.C.” In addition to his legislative duties in Indianapolis, Haggard is a small business owner and commercial broker. He is a board member of the National Rifle Association and previously worked as the NRA’s Indiana field representative. He is a graduate of Hanover College. During his 11-year stint in the Marine Corps, Haggard was a AV8B Harrier Aviator. Following his honorable discharge in 2000, he served as an active member of the Indiana Air National Guard before retiring in 2013 with the rank of lieutenant colonel. “A convention of the states is our best hope to restore federalism and the balance of power between the national government and the states,” said Haggard, “just as our Founders intended.” Everyone associated with COSA is thrilled that Rep. Craig Haggard has officially endorsed our effort and is excited to fly with him as we move closer to calling an Article V convention and restoring ordered liberty and limited government to our republic.
