Home Presentation Spreads the Word in NC 98

Frank Shults (DC NC98) spread the word about COS with a home presentation.

On Saturday, May 3, 2025, Frank Shults (NC98), a District Captain for Convention of States North Carolina, hosted a home presentation that ten people attended. Six of the attendees were constituents of House District 98. Frank did invite his representative for House District 98, Beth Helfrich, who had a prior commitment and could not attend. Frank had previously met with Representative Helfrich, who kindly allowed him to explain the Article V Convention process. Frank also promoted Convention of States to four other districts surrounding his district.

Upon arrival and signing an attendance sheet, a table was set up to display Convention of States paraphernalia to take back home. Pizza, tea, and brownies were served. Once everyone was present, Frank started the meeting with a pledge of allegiance and a prayer. He then introduced himself and his wife, Michelle. Frank then asked each attendee to introduce themselves, where they live, and how they got involved or became interested in Convention of States. The conversation was interesting and engaging. Many attendees are transplants, with a few born and raised in the area.

After everyone had a chance to respond, Frank moved the conversation to what Convention of States North Carolina leaders, volunteer activists, and supporters were doing for the current legislative session. Everyone in attendance was a Convention of States petition signer. Frank spoke about COS North Carolina’s House Joint Resolution (HJR) 379, Application for a Convention of States, and House Bill 214, Faithful Article V Commissioner Act, which were introduced for the current North Carolina General Assembly session. As of the time of the meeting, both the resolution and the bill were in the House Judiciary 1 committee. Frank urged the attendees to contact their representatives and to prepare for their senators should the bill and resolution be passed out of the House.
