Grassroots Spotlight Interview- Alison Collins

From the small corner of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Alison Collins is making a big impact. As the head of the Prayer Warrior team for Wyoming, her quiet dedication and heartfelt prayers are helping support and guide the Convention of States movement in her state. Alison’s journey to COS began with a simple intention: to send a donation. But after connecting with Julie Baker, Alison found herself drawn deeper into the movement. What started as a simple gesture of support has turned into a passion she can’t imagine living without. “I had no intention of getting this involved. Now, I feel like I've been doing it forever and I love it,” Alison said.

Alison’s professional background spans over 40 years as a nurse, with her last 15 years dedicated to end-of-life hospice care. Working in hospice taught her a critical lesson: give power to the people. That same belief in self-governance drew her to COS. “When you’re caring for someone in hospice, it’s all about giving them control, letting them decide what’s best. I think that’s why COS resonates with me,” she explained.

Alison found her perfect fit within COS as the head of the Wyoming Prayer Warrior team. It’s a role she embraces with humility and a strong sense of purpose. “I never thought I would have the knowledge or the understanding to talk to people in those positions. But here I am.”

What makes Alison’s approach unique is her sincerity and focus on giving. Unlike many who call their legislators to ask for something, Alison’s approach is purely supportive.

“I’m calling to give them something. I’m not calling to complain or beg for help. I’m offering support,” Alison said. “It’s taken time, but now some legislators even call me directly when they need support. That’s amazing.” Her advice for others considering this role? Just be yourself. “If you’re comfortable praying and offering support, that’s all it takes. You don’t have to be perfect; you just have to care.”

Prayer and persistence are Alison’s north star. Whether she’s encouraging a legislator to attend a COS event or simply sending a thoughtful note, Alison’s approach is rooted in faith and consistency. “There’s something in COS for everybody. For me, it’s prayer. It’s something I can do from home, and it makes a difference,” Alison said.

Alison Collins proves that you don’t need to be in the spotlight to make a significant impact. Her faith, kindness, and determination are helping to pave the way for positive change in Wyoming and beyond. “Sometimes you don’t see the results right away. But when you do it’s amazing and makes it all worth it.”
