Get America on the right track

The United States of America is like a train. But a train without tracks is useless.

The Constitution is that set of tracks.

The Framers of that document worked and prayed and worked some more until they felt they had done their best to provide a good set of tracks for the country.

It worked for a long time, despite the early usurpations by the Supreme Court.

Somewhere along the line the USA train hit a switch. The switch redirected her away from constitutional republicanism and toward Progressivism.

It has gone downhill from there. The set of rails after the switch are on a downhill trajectory and heading in the wrong direction.

Anyone knows that an object on wheels that is moving down a hill tends to pick up speed. The longer the downgrade the more the rate of increase in speed.

Speed here is akin to tyranny. We slowly fell under the guise of tyranny, as they controlled more and more of our lives.

As I write this, it  reminds me of the beginning of a John Wayne film Rio Lobo. In that film the Confederates stole a gold shipment by uncoupling the gold car and letting it go back down the hill. Except, for us, there are no waiting ropes to stop the train cars.

What we have is a switch ahead of us known as the Convention of States, which will turn this train back to the constitutional tracks laid by the Framers of the Constitution.

But it’s going to take all of us to pull that switch, so the USA train gets back to heading in the right direction.
