George Moorman Awarded Challenge Coin Award

Michigan Convention of States' own George Moorman was recently awarded the “Challenge Coin Recognition” for his contributions to Convention of States. George was presented his award by Catherine Zemanek, Regional COS Director at the COS National Leadership Conference recently held in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Challenge Coin Recognition has its roots in the US Military and is presented to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service, leadership, or dedication to a cause.

George started out in the Michigan COS as a District Captain and is today the State Information Analyst. In this position, he and his team are challenged to maintain and update Michigan’s membership database. He was also involved in the successful transition from the Slack website communication tool to Zulip, which is now used throughout all of COS nationwide.

In addition to the Michigan State Information Analyst position, he stepped up to take on the added responsibility of becoming the Regional Zulip Champion for the “Flyover” Region. The Flyover Region includes the states of Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Idaho, Utah, and Michigan—a sizeable task by any measure!
