Florida Interim Committee Weeks
If you are interested in how your tax dollars are spent, you might be interested in the Joint Legislative Audit Committee.
| This time of year in the legislative season is called the Interim Committee Weeks which is when our legislators are crafting bills intended to solve our local problems. Why is this important? * If we want to consider ourselves self-governing citizens, we must be knowledgeable about governing, that is, the bills being considered as potential laws. * This is a good way to learn about Florida problems. * This is an opportunity to understand who your local representative is, see him/her in action, and what issues they are working on. Knowing their concerns will help you build better relationships with your reps. * This is a way to prepare for the Surge, the COS visit to Tallahassee in February 2026. * This is a way to influence the legislative process. The COS Legislative Liaison Team would like every volunteer and COS supporter to be familiar with the Florida House website. (https://flhouse.gov) This link leads to a page with a picture of the Speaker of the House. ![]() Scroll down to see House meetings on that day or click on the red box “FULL HOUSE SCHEDULE” in order to see a calendar of all committee meetings. ![]() If you prefer to search by the name of the committee, click on the word “Committees” in the top row of the page. You will get to a page that lists all main committees in a dark blue band with subcommittees listed under them. For example: Budget Committee Agriculture & Natural Resources Budget Subcommittee Health Care Budget Subcommittee Higher Education Budget Subcommittee Information Technology Budget & Policy Subcommittee Justice Budget Subcommittee PreK-12 Budget Subcommittee State Administration Budget Subcommittee Transportation & Economic Development Budget Subcommittee The COS Legislative Team hopes that you will look for committees that are of interest to you. Then follow them by either joining the live meeting or watching the archived stream. If you click on the yellow “Meeting Notice” box, you will see more details about the topics covered in this committee. ![]() If you are interested in how your tax dollars are spent, you might be interested in the Joint Legislative Audit Committee. This JOINT committee includes both House and Senate members. “The Committee has the authority to take action against educational and local governmental entities that fail to correct audit findings reported in three successive audits.” Convention of States We COS volunteers never forget that although we would love to see an Article V Convention, our true mission is to build an engaged army of self-governing grassroots activists. We do everything we can to inform, inspire, and activate average Americans to pay attention and take action. Why not take a few minutes to watch your own House Rep in action to ensure their priorities are aligned with your values. Better yet, ask a friend or a few to join you for a watch party. Discuss and learn together. # | PETITION_WIDGET{petition_tag:Florida Interim Committee Weeks;coalition_id:;anedot_url:} | # |
