Embracing Political Discourse to Find Solutions

Throughout our country's history, we have repeatedly fought for our freedom. We have fought with weapons and war. We have fought through the exchange of words and thoughts.

It is that second kind of fighting that has set us apart.

This historical debate and the exchange of ideas to find a compromise have allowed our country to thrive.

Political violence has not been the norm in America. While we have had our moments of riots and unrest throughout the country and even had a civil war, Americans historically have not resorted to political violence as their default method of resolving their differences. That is part of what has made America great.

Over the last several years, we have tragically seen political violence elevated to the forefront with riots, assassination attempts, and the murder of sitting political leaders.

It's time that we reverse that trend.

It's time to reclaim our country's greatness. We must harness the Constitution and use Article V to solve the structural problems that keep our nation swinging at the whims of our federally elected leaders.

As we celebrate Independence Day on the 4th of July, it can be tempting to think we are celebrating the day we decided to fight for our freedom. In reality, the Declaration of Independence wasn't a decision to fight so much as a declaration that we have God-given rights, that government exists to safeguard those rights, and that when government fails to do so, we have the right to replace it and protect our freedom.

So, this Independence Day, let us embrace the path of political discourse and find solutions to our political disagreements within our country without physical violence.

Finally, let's resolve to use the perfect venue for debate and exchange of ideas that our Constitution provides to return our nation to a path of freedom, fighting through word and thought.

LEARN MORE about the Article V convention process.

GET INVOLVED. Changing the structure of government will only happen when the people demand the change through an Article V convention.
